About "Fishing With Father Murphy"

The business, Fishing with Father Murphy, started out as a hobby in 1997 after his retirement from Washoe County School District due to pain from back surgery. A former local fishing guide, James "Dick" Murphy began hand-crafting lures for his use to fish for Kokanee Salmon at Stampede Reservoir and Dormer Lake.

Murphy, makes his products in his Sun Valley home, and his wife, Joyce helps with packages, labels and shipping orders. Murphy produces about 12 dozen bugs a day, and on one recent afternoon Joyce packaged more than 500 bugs. He also makes several other types of lures.

Murphy offers 11 different colors of 1/2 oz. and 3/4 oz. spoons that work well on lake trout and salmon. "All my colors have been tried and proven to be very effective at Pyramid Lake.

We hope that you will look to "Fishing with Father Murphy" for all your needs for Kokanee Salmon, trout and brown fishing needs. Good luck fishing!
